Our School

“Olta’ Doo Baadaadidiinaal Da” (You Cannot Outgrow Education)

Cottonwood Day School is a kindergarten through eighth grade learning environment that prepares Navajo youth for high school and beyond. Established in 1966, the school is focused on preserving our heritage and empowering students to reach the highest levels of academic achievement. Our dedicated and high-quality teachers provide intensive math and language skills instruction, including advanced Diné Language and Culture Studies.

Our mission is to foster excellence in learning with curriculums that meet the diverse academic needs of our students. In addition to an extensive general studies program, Cottonwood Day School educators offer programs in computer technology, special education, counseling services, and Navajo language. We focus on the students' mental, social, and emotional well-being throughout their elementary and middle school education.

Students grow, develop, and mature in our safe and healthy education community. Cottonwood Day School offers its student athletes opportunities to participate in competitive sports, including volleyball, cross country, football, basketball, baseball, and softball. We promote a healthy student life with extracurricular activities and daily meal plans that support their minds, bodies, and spirits.

Strategic Transformation of Education Plan (STEP)

Cottonwood Day School implemented the Strategic Transformation of Education Plan (STEP) initiative – a digital learning portal with a blended learning approach. Our students can maximize this opportunity by accessing the digital learning portal with a 1:1 student-laptop usage ratio. This approach gives our students every advantage with integrated applications, such as personalized and assessment-based math and reading curriculum, Native language and culture educational programs, and accelerated learning strategies for our tailored instruction. Every one of our students benefits from dynamic teaching tools that use state-of-the-art resources. Cottonwood Day School’s team of dedicated educators is committed to the growth and development of your children - tomorrow’s leaders.
