Overview

Athletics at Cottonwood Day School
At Cottonwood Day School, we're proud to offer a robust athletics program that allows students to engage in sports and develop valuable skills on and off the field. As a member of the Northeastern Arizona Athletic Association, we uphold high standards of sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic excellence. Here's what you need to know about athletics at our school:
Eligibility Requirements
Before students can participate in our sports programs, they must meet specific eligibility requirements:
- Physical examination: Students must have a current physical examination on file.
- Age restrictions: Junior high athletes must be under 15 years of age before September 1, while elementary athletes must be under 13 years of age before September 1.
- Academic performance: Athletes must maintain a "C" average in their academic subjects. Grade checks will be conducted weekly and failing to maintain a "C" average will result in ineligibility for upcoming games, meets, or events.
- Attendance: Athletes must attend school the day before, the day of, and the day after a game, meet, or event. Excessive absences will lead to ineligibility for participation.
- Behavioral expectations: Athletes must demonstrate exemplary behavior on campus and during away games, meets, or events. Failure to uphold behavioral standards may result in dismissal from the team.
- Conduct standards: Any incident report or violation of conduct standards may result in dismissal from the team.
- Substance abuse policy: Athletes caught using or possessing drugs, alcohol, paraphernalia, or tobacco will face suspension from athletics for the season.
